Cortney is a writer and astrologer with more than 20 years of experience
reading charts. Her writing spans a wide range of categories, from traditional
news and feature stories to insightful New Age articles, many of which appear in
California Psychics' newsletters, website and blog. Additionally, her
long-running astrology column,
AstroDreams, is published biweekly in
The Malibu Times.
As an online radio host for The Cosmic
Sutra, Cortney has shared her astrology and dream
interpretation expertise with listeners from all over the world. Finding
that most people want insights about their relationships has led Cortney to
specialize in chart comparisons for couples. She also conducts private
readings for individuals and couples.
Getting there . . .
Cortney has a
bachelor's degree in English/professional writing from the New
York Institute of Technology. Her background includes working as a staff
journalist, photographer and copy editor for The Malibu Times. In the 1990s, she
founded Lighthouse Fellowship, a metaphysical center that hosted classes in
astrology, meditation, dream interpretation, NLP, shamanism and rebirthing,
along with nondenominational Sunday services and psychic fairs.
Spiritual path
As a child, Cortney's spiritual views were shaped by a
church she attended that embraced both Christianity and Eastern teachings such
as karma and reincarnation. Fascinated by astrology and dream interpretation
early on, Cortney began buying metaphysical books at age 10 and studying the
charts of everyone she knew. Her in-depth studies also include numerology,
shamanism, reincarnation and the spiritual-emotional connection between people
and animals.
In her spiritual life, Cortney is guided by a respect for
all living things and the belief that the thoughts and actions you send out into
the world will come back to you. What keeps her grounded is hiking with her
husband, Al Konigsfeld and their malamute, Kaya.
